The Glue: Resourcing what keeps feminist movements together

With Francoise Moudouthe & Terry De Vries

Movements are more than the sum of their parts. There is a glue that keeps us together which results from seeing and holding each other's humanity and slowing the pace to create togetherness, belonging and solidarity. It asks us to center courage, vulnerability, care and love. It is important to nurture and resource this glue. It is also important to be mindful and in practice around gaps in our perception, knowledge and action. It requires are-orientation to "who and how we be" as people in organizations and movement and an intentional practice around: sharing power, connecting to our lived experience, not just our expertise, holding complexity and difference in generative ways and using language that is accessible & inclusive.

“The glue” is many things. It is knowing yourself and letting others know you, being vulnerable, it is presence, solidarity and being on a journey and accompanying others on a journey even when it’s uncomfortable”
